Notice to applicants to the 2012-2013 CRCC Grant Program
READ THIS FIRST
Dear Colleagues,
There are several changes to the application process this year for the 2012-2013 award cycle. Several pages have been eliminated. Section C Professional Personnel has been revised to allow additional information about the individuals who will be involved in the proposed research project. However Section D Biosketch and Section E Publications are required only for the principal investigator. The applicant should supply Letters of Collaboration for individuals who will contribute in a significant way to the project.
As was the case last year, applicants must use the pdf application available from the website. The applicant must use Adobe Acrobat Professional to complete the form. The completed form which the CRCC office receives must have active form fields (blue boxes). These active form fields are required in order to transfer the application information into the database. Adobe Reader cannot be used; it will not work. A scanned pdf document is unacceptable. [Note exception: Supplemental page iii Signatures may be a scanned page; similarly Letters of Collaboration may be scanned.] A ‘flattened’ pdf document cannot be accepted ie one that lacks active form fields (blue boxes).
Each detail of the Application Instructions must be observed. Some of these may seem trivial or tedious. In fact, each one has an impact on how the application is received, processed, distributed and stored. The CRCC regrets that it must apply such stringent specifications. The reality is that the CRCC office no longer receives administrative funding from the Office of the President, and the CRCC is attempting to implement whatever efficiencies it can within its limited budget.
Applications which are improperly prepared are set aside from the correctly prepared ones. If there is an opportunity for the CRCC office to notify the applicant, it will attempt do so. However, the likelihood is that there will be little extra time available once the application deadline approaches. In such cases, the improperly prepared applications cannot be accepted for review for this grant cycle.
The CRCC office received 91 applications last year. Of these, 77 were correctly prepared and 6 were administratively rejected. Eight applications were ‘flattened’ pdf documents; this year such applications cannot be accepted.
Read Application Information and Instructions for more detailed information. The CRCC office is not able to provide technical support. Questions should be addressed to the CRCC office by email.
Sincerely,
Neil E. Schore
